Shenandoah County Search, Inc.
We Did It!
The nonprofit organization known as Candid is the world's largest source of information on nonprofits and foundations, helping donors and the public evaluate and gain insight into charitable organizations. By providing Candid with detailed information such as our mission, strategic plan, and financial reports, we have received the organization's highest level of transparency seal. SEARCH's Platinum Seal of Transparency allows us to expand our reach to tell the world our story of providing a nurturing home for our residents and the wonderful people who care for them.
Join us in giving ourselves a pat on the back.

A huge thank you - one and all - for your generous and compassionate Giving Tuesday donations to help enrich the lives of our residents.
So far, we have raised over $7,500 with a final tally in the works. Check back to see our total, which will include any matching funds from the Shenandoah Community Fund and Chamber of Commerce.
Also, please keep checking in with us to see how your gift of giving will continue to bring joy to our residents, such as outings, art classes, and an annual vacation. In fact, right now they are getting ready to make an overnight trip to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg to delight in Christmas Town.
They enjoy your recognition when you see updates about their activities. And we recognize you for your generosity.
who we are
Shenandoah County SEARCH, Inc. (“SEARCH”) was established in August, 1978 by Preston and Vivian Poole, and others who were interested in the welfare of intellectually challenged citizens. SEARCH is a Section 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Thus donations to SEARCH are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by applicable law.
SEARCH Continues to operate in memory of Vivian Poole, who dedicated 30 years of her life to this cause.
SEARCH is grateful for the visionary leadership of Sid and Betsy Price following the death of Vivian Poole. They helped put SEARCH on the road to success! Their generosity and vision provided SEARCH with the current Thrift Shop building. Care for our residents guided their vision.
