Shenandoah County Search, Inc.
search Thrift shop
5982 Main Street, Mt. Jackson, VA 22842

The SEARCH Thrift Shop opened its doors in 1977 in anticipation of supporting a group home. It relies on gently used, good, and new donations from caring citizens of many communities.

We offer quality clothing and accessories, housewares, furniture, and furnishings at affordable prices.
Income from the Thrift Shop, along with financial donations from local citizens, civic organizations, churches, and grants provide funds necessary for the continued operation of the SEARCH Group Home.

The Thrift Shop is operated by a dedicated staff of volunteers supervised by the store Manager. We always need, and are happy to welcome, new volunteers! Volunteers can work a set schedule, or come in for an hour or two as their time allows. Volunteer workers help sort donations, tag and price items, test electronic donations, arrange items in the store, help customers, help pick up furniture donations, and cashier.

News from the Thrift Store
Search Thrift Shop is open for business Tuesday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come browse the store, where you always will find something on sale. As you browse, you also will find a wide array of housewares, linens, decor, toys, books, movies, furniture and other goodies throughout the store. We post many items for sale each week on our Facebook page and on facebookmarketplace.com. You must visit the Shop to make a purchase.
Volunteers make it possible for the store to operate so revenue can be used solely to support the Group Home. Manager Sue Larkin directs about 20 volunteers. Members of Basye-Bryce Mountain Lions Club volunteer to pick up and haul furniture donations. Looking for something to do for a worthwhile cause? Call Sue at the store to volunteer.
Our Thrift Store prefers that donors call for an appointment (540-477-2600) so we are sure to have room for your goods. If you have just two or three boxes or bags an appointment isn't necessary. All donations must be left during store hours and before 3:30 pm. Donations are accepted behind the Store; if the canopy is closed, donations are not being accepted at that time.
